The Short Inca Trail is a great way to hike to Machu Picchu in a short amount of time. Get a taste of the Classic Inca Trail, visit Wiñay Wayna and walk through Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, into Machu Picchu. Day 2 of this itinerary gives you a chance to fully explore the  Machu Picchu citadel.

Full itinerary:

  • Day 01: Cusco – Wiñaywayna – Machupicchu 

Early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel, to transfer you to the train station in Ollantaytambo for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, during the tour you can see the Sacred Valley of the Incas, farmlands, majestic snow-capped mountains; In Ollantaymtambo we will board the train that will take you to km. 104 the trip is approximately 1 hour.

It is here at Km 104 (2,200 m / 7,218 ft) where we will start the walk, we will pass through the bridge that is over the Urubamba or Willkamayuc river, which translated from Quechua means Sacred River, which was very important to them. When you arrive at the control point you have to show the identification documents, be it a Passport or Immigration Card or a National Identity Document.

If you are not very tired, you have the option of visiting the thermal baths that are located 5 minutes from the town, the cost is 10 soles. For those who like to dance or have a few drinks in a bar, we inform you that Aguas Calientes has a wide variety of bars and restaurants, including an ATM, in case you wish to withdraw money from the bank.

  • Day 02: Machu Picchu – Cusco

We start early with a comforting breakfast and then get ready to go to the Citadel of Machu Picchu; here we have two options: go by bus or walk; we include a bus ticket (up or down). The walk to Machu Picchu is 1 hour and 30 minutes, the first 30 minutes of a flat walk to the Ruinas bridge and then climb the properly marked stands.

This enigmatic and mysterious city is explored for approximately 2 hours in the company of your guide, who will provide you with information about this wonder, you can visit the most impressive places such as the Royal Mausoleum, the temple of the 3 windows, the main temple, the Sacred Square , the famous Intihuatana where the Inca sages tied the sun on the winter solstice in June, stairways, squares, fountains, etc.
