Cusco – Machupicchu – Rainbow Mountain 3D / 2N

We pick you up from tour hotel in Cusco city at 1:00 pm and we will go to visit the main square of Cusco And we will also walk along an Inca street towards the temple of the sun  

And after to we visit we will take a transport to head out of the city center to Let’s explore the four archaeological sites of the Inca culture: 

Saqsaywaman, Quenco, Pukapukara, Tambomachay

After we will visit the alpaca and llama farm where these South American camels are protected.

Pickup time: 4:00 am – We will pick you up from your hotel around this time, which could be before or after, depending on the final train schedule. If you stay in the Sacred Valley, we’ll pick you up between 6 and 7 am due to the proximity to Ollantaytambo.  

After picking you up, we’ll drive to the train station of Ollantaytambo, where you will board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes town). The ride lasts 1.5 hours and it will take you through breathtaking landscapes from the high Andes and the Cloud Forest. Upon Arrival at the final Train station, our tour guide will meet you for a bus ride to Machu Picchu, which takes about 30 minutes. 

You will get to the main gate of Machu Picchu around 10:00 am, early enough to enjoy this ancient wonder. Just make sure to show your entry tickets and original passports. Once there, you’ll explore MachuPicchu with your Tour Guide, which will take about 3 hours. The visit goes through Circuit 1 or 2 and includes the most important buildings, such as the viewpoints, the Guard House, the terraces, temples, palaces, etc.; you’ll also be able to stop at the best spots to take amazing photos and relax while you take in the fantastic views. 

After the tour, you will board the bus down to Aguas Calientes, have lunch (not included), and have some free time in the town. You can either explore the streets, or visit the hot springs if time allows. Aguas Calientes is a very small town, and you can easily walk in 10 minutes from one corner to the other.  

Later in the afternoon, you will board the Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo, where our team and transport will wait for you and transfer you to Cusco. If you want to have the panoramic experience, We will drop you at your hotel around 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Our mobility will come very early to pick you up from your hotel Or at the time you decided to leave, to go to the Cusipata district, which is approximately 77 kilometers away. This trip is for 2 hours, to the community of Cusipata, here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast  

And then continue driving for approximately 1 more hour in our transport until we reach the beginning of the adventure hike. From this point we will start our Trekking to the Rinbow Mountain – Vinicunca. The hike will take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes or 2 hours as we climb up to 5040m/16,535ft 

Already being at the top of the mountain, our guide will give a Information about this beautiful natural formation. 

According to some geologists from the society of geology of Peru, the mountain of Vinicunca, alongside many other mountains of the huge Cordillera of the Andes have formed from the movement of the tectonic plates which have elevated the marine sediments to the point of being converted into impressive mountains. 

On the other hand, the color presented by Vinicunca is the result of the oxidation of some minerals due to erosion, humidity and other geological factors. 

At some point in our history, the mountain was covered with blocks of ice: it was snowy. However, due to global warming and climate change, the ice disappeared and left in its place this magical landscape that demonstrates the beauty and ecological fragility of planet Earth. 

The coloring of the 7-color hill, according to the studies of the Deconcentrated Directorate of Culture of Cusco, is due to the following mineralogical composition: 

• The pink color is the red clay, fangolites (mud) and arilites (sand). 

• The Blanquecino is by quartz sandstone and marls, rich in calcium carbonate. 

• Red is composed of clays (iron) and clays belonging to the upper tertiary. 

• The green is due to the compound of phyllites and clays rich in magnesium ferro. 

• The earthy brown is a product of fanglomerate composed of rock with magnesium belonging to the Quaternary era. 

And the mustard yellow color is due to the presence of calcareous sandstones rich in sulphured minerals.

We continue the hike to the Red Valley is on a dirt path that is well-marked. The trekking will require all your strength. As the path approaches the Red Valley viewpoint, it becomes steeper and more challenging. The hike will be about 1 hour and 20 minutes until we reach Phullawasipata where our transportation will be waiting to take us  

We will return to the same starting point to take our transport back to the town of CUSIPATA to enjoy our  buffet lunch.
